Firstly, if you don’t have a logo at all for your business, then why not?

A well designed, professional logo conveys that you are credible and trustworthy  and it makes you stand out from your competition. It helps current customers remember you later and helps attract future customers.

But maybe your business has had their logo for a long time and you’re wondering if it’s time for a change. Here are some useful questions to ask yourself and help you evaluate whether you could do with a logo facelift.

1. Does your logo appeal to your target audience?

Just because you like it doesn’t mean anyone else does necessarily. How you feel about it is secondary.

2. Does your logo have instant impact?

Simple logos are easier to remember and reproduce better at a small size. You need to grab people’s attention quickly with your logo.

3. How many colours is your logo?

A well crafted logo should work well in any colour and not rely on colour to hold it together. Ideally 1 or 2 colours maximum to keep it adaptable for various applications such as screen printing or black and white advertising.

4. Is your logo unique?

The easiest answer is often the most common. A great logo should avoid overused trends and cliches. Having a trendy logo with the hippest font on offer is great for a month or two but a classic looking logo will stand the test of time much longer and not look dated quickly.

5. Does your logo reflect your company’s personality?

Serious. Fun. Innovative. Welcoming. Your logo needs to graphically portray the essence of your business.

6. Do you have an icon as part of your design?

A detachable icon can be used with or without your company wordmark. Square icons are adaptable for use on everything from social media avatars to clothing.
